Spring Break 2013

This year we decided to change things up a bit and do cold weather activities instead of tropical. We went with Matt's side of the family (minus Emmy & Cheez) to Angel Fire, New Mexico. The last time I had been skiing was in this exact same location when I was a sophomore in high school 15 years ago (gosh time flies). It's was a great location for us because we have young children and some adults (one in particular ; )) who were new to skiing. Angel Fire is family oriented and I'm guessing more laid back than most ski resorts-just a guess. Anyways, it was a great match for our first ski trip as a family.

Here are some pictures from my phone.  I'll upload the ones from camera soon I'm sure...

These happy cousins were troopers!

Some of the slopes.  These were too easy for us ; ).

Jeff & Becky--I guess it was pretty cold that day.

We can't go anywhere without a swinging break.  Geez, this kid LOVES to swing.

I think it was like 70 degrees on the slopes the last day.

Here I am about to do a black slope...

Christmas At Home 2012

In the midst of countless family gatherings around Christmas it's hard to find a time to experience that perfect, intimate family moment (just Daddy, Mommy, and Lyla).  While it's great to be surrounded by our family, when growing up I always loved being with my sisters, Mom, and Dad while opening gifts that Santa had brought us.  So, since Lyla was such an angel all year, Santa decided to visit Lyla's house a whole week and a half early.  He also knew that her Daddy was working in New Jersey for the entire week and when he returned home, a marathon of visiting family began.

Lyla really enjoyed most things Christmas this year.  Whenever she saw Santa, she would say, "ho,ho,ho", but to sit on his lap is a different story.  She was not having it.  I'm still waiting on those pictures, btw (you know who you are ; ) ).  Her favorite thing was unwrapping gifts.  There was no waiting her turn.  She had to unwrap the gift as soon as possible and then the next.

Here we are at Lyla's 2nd Christmas at home:

Running down the hallway to see what all the fuss was about:

She immediately started looking through the cabinets.  I think Santa did good.

These three pictures were over a matter of 10 seconds probably.

This child loves Skittles.  Matt couldn't deny her if he wanted to.

Emry Visits!

Amy and Emry were nice enough to come visit us while Matt was out of town for a week.  I'm so thrilled that they are closer for now--we have so much catching up to do!  Lyla and Emry haven't had many chances to play together, which makes me sad because I know they would be best of friends like their mommies.

Thanksgiving 2012

This holiday is absolutely worth giving a little love to.  After all, we have so much to be thankful for.  My Mom and Dad hosted Raab Thanksgiving this year and were great hosts as usual!  Matt's family celebrated at his Aunt Charlotte's in Dime Box.  We were sad to miss it but look forward to spending Christmas with them!

This photo really captures the season.  (notice the beatiful foliage in the background)
