It's right around the corner!

I LOVE Christmas and as much as everyone around me hates that all things are becoming Christmas so soon, I'm enjoying every minute of the hype! I listened to Christmas music all the way home from work today, hehe. I'm in the process of figuring out where to put our Christmas tree this year. Our living room is too small or either we have too much furniture in it or maybe a little of both. I told Matt that he has to take the decorations down from the attic tomorrow so I can set up everything before we go out of town for the Thanksgiving holidays....he just rolls his eyes. I know he secretly loves it too! His mom always tells me how he was always that guy who shook his gifts to try and figure what they were (he even does it nowadays). That rascal! With that said, I may even try and convince him to put up the lights this week too! Why not??? A few of our neighbors have had theirs up for a couple of weeks now! I'll get back to you on project Griswald soon! (you know....the Christmas vacation Griswald's??)

Deer Stand Pics and deer

Dawn doesn't really understand quality craftmanship....so I am posting some of the pictures of my stand as well as a deer or two that I saw while in it. Bear with the pictures since they were taken from a camera phone. You can't see any horns on the deer, but I promise they were six points.

Matt's Creation

Ok, let's be honest, this blog is pretty much me talking. It's titled "Just the 2 of Us" so to make that true I figured I'd better do his part. While we were in Houston, Matt stayed behind to go hunting on his Grandfather's property. His mission this past weekend was to build a tree stand. So, he did. In like and hour. I'm scared to climb up it and I'm scared for him to climb up it. You never know about Aggie engineering (yes, this can be biased because I'm writing it). Although, he did and is still here in one piece. He said it worked out and he saw a couple of bucks up close. Job well done. I'm sure he'll be happy to post some pics of his masterpiece.

Waaaaay Overdue

Hillary and I were finally able to travel to Houston to say Avery, Mandy and Scott since we hadn't seen them since the wedding. Avery has changed so much in just one month. She's now crawling, we discovered that her FIRST tooth is coming in, and she has a totally new smile that uses every part of her face. I LOVE IT! OH, and she found her tongue. It is constantly out. Mandy and Scott we worried that all of her Christmas pictures (that they took yesterday) would be of her sticking out her tongue. That would be cute too! Anyways, we arrived in Houston around 10, picked up Mandy so we could do some shopping, and then had lunch with Scott and Avery. After that we vegged out for a while and played with the baby. Mandy and Scott then chose to take us to try a new restaurant called, Max's Wine Dive. It's a cute place that serves suped up comfort food (gourmet) and has a huge wine list. Cute concept! My only complaint was the wait and that was due to the limited seating. It's pretty small. Then Mandy's friends Mariam and (I can't remember her name :( ) joined us as we went to Hotel ZaZa. That's where I spilled my drink on a guy. No, not because I was the least bit tipsy but because I'm the hugest clutz ever! Oh well, it wasn't the whole drink but still enough to make me feel bad about. We left there relatively early because we were exhausted from eating and drinking wine in a dark place. In the end, it was an enjoyable trip and I can't wait to visit again!

Happy 2nd Birthday, Kelby Lynn!

So after my long road trip to Houston, Matt and I ventured over to Giddings to celebrate our niece's 2nd birthday that I had previously blogged about. Kelby was definitely aware that this party was for her. I've never quite seen her so wound up. She and her cousin Natalie were HILARIOUS to watch. And oh boy, let me tell ya. She had cake on the mind. She likes cake as she would say. Check out the cutie patootie and all of the celebration. We love you, Kelby!

Too cute in her red cowboy hat and the red boots Uncle Chris and Aunt Em got her!

Kelby riding the Radio Flyer horse she got and sporting the boots we got her!

Just like Uncle Matt when it comes to candy (skittles especially)!

Grandma Cowen loves, loves, loves her granddaughter!

Birthday girl!

Reaching for the pretty cake Grandma Cowen made her...

Kelby is turning 2!

This upcoming weekend we will be celebrating another one of our adorable nieces 2nd birthday. It's hard to believe it's been 2 years since she arrived. Kelby definitely makes her presence known wherever she may be. She's got everyone in the Cowen family (including me) wrapped around her finger! Although, she is learning to share the spotlight because she has a new baby sister, Kevyn, to share it with.

Avery Grace

She looks like a little lady on this picture....cracks me up!

One of my favorite pictures of her yet!

Ms. Smiles Alot

This pictures just exudes how lovable and fun Avery is!

So it's been over a MONTH since I've seen my niece, Avery. I'm finally making a trip to Houston this weekend to see her, oh, and Mandy and Scott too, hehe. I felt I need to put a few pictures of her on our blog just to brighten it up a bit and hold me over until this weekend!

Baby Alana is here!

The Wideman's welcomed their new addition, Alana Lee, on October 30th. She weighed a little over 7lbs. and is just as cute as ever! Susan says she's been a wonderful baby so that's always good to hear; I'm sure it's hard enough just adjusting to being a mom. Matt and I are so ecstatic for their whole family and love them dearly.

Camping 08

Matt and I (and Bear) had our annual fall camping trip last weekend. Yes, we spent Halloween in the "wilderness". Neither of us are huge fans of dressing up and Matt's not keen on sitting at home and passing out candy. So we headed to Birch Creek in Somerville and camped for 2 nights and 1.5 days. Hillary came out and kept us company but she also had the pleasure of learning how to play moon (or moonshine as I kept calling it for some reason). Our main activity during our trip was to eat campfire meals and enjoy the beautiful weather but we also had the opportunity to listen to the aggies and to that pathetic TEXAS game. Oh, a few mimosas were involved as well. Keep in mind, we're roughing it so no makeup was involved....beware...
