She rolls! She rolls!

I'm Back!

Now that we've finally settled down from the hustle and bustle of starting school I find my self with a little bit of free time in the evening. Lyla has reached so many milestones since I last posted. She's pretty much the happiest baby I've ever been around and I'm not just saying that because I'm biased! Here are just a few of the things she can do now:
-make LOUD, HIGH PITCHED noises
-turn when she hears her name called
-ROLL OVER (video in the next post)
-hold her head up completely by herself
-smile ALL the time and laugh out loud
-reach and grab anything she wants to get her hands on
-push her self up using her hands and gets her feet going like she wants to crawl
I could go on forever. It's just amazing how fast they learn and develop but all the moms out there know that ; ).
And here she is:

Our New Addition

As I was saying, Mother's Day got just a bit more beautiful at 10 o'clock Sunday night. Miss Lyla Rose decided she was ready to meet us and my water broke! We were set to induce on Tuesday the 10th so this really took us by surprise. We were so anxious to meet her as well but unfortunately the whole process took more than 20 hours. I only got to 9.5 cm dilated and this was after several hours of labor. My doctor was really dissappointed that I didn't dilate that last .5 cm but didn't want to wait any longer becuase the risk of putting stress on the baby or myself. Plus, Lyla hadn't dropped and wasn't ready to make her way down the birth canal. He ordered a C-Section and within 20 minutes or so we became the proudest, happiest, and blessed parents! We soon found out that she weighed a WHOPPING 9.5 lbs and measured 20.5 inches! We weren't surprised as to why she wasn't descending and I was a bit thankful that we didn't wait for that to happen : ). I cannot put into words the way I felt the moment I saw her. All I could do was cry and smile and look at the big smile on Matt's face (and of course stare at her).

Looking rough at about 11 hours in labor:

The Ultimate Mother's Day

First of all, let me say that I have the best Mom in the world. Through all the trials and tribulations I can honestly say that our relationship has grown stronger and will only continue to do so. Going forward, my sweet family came to visit us on Mother's Day because we couldn't travel. We went to eat at one of our local faves, BT Longhorn Saloon in downtown Brenham. It was a beautiful day and got just a little more beautiful at about 10 p.m. that night (story continued on next blog post)...

Our Sunshine

So it turns out that I can't tell enough people that Little Miss Lyla will be making her grand entrance into the world on May 10th by way of induction-- possibly sooner if she decides she doesn't feel like being squished anymore. Matt and I are so giddy, excited, anxious to finally meet her! I've dreamed so long of having someone to share our love with and it just seems so surreal that I could be a mom any day now. One day when she reads this I want her to know that she is a dream come true and though I pray and wish and hope and wish and hope and pray that she is 100% healthy, we will love her with all of our hearts no matter what...
